When African Swine Fever was detected and spread south across the DMZ, the South Korean government initiated a containment program that required UNC support. UNC suspended all civilian tours to the JSA and limited access to other areas within the DMZ starting in the Fall, authorized and coordinated aerial decontamination in areas across the DMZ, and expedited installation of individual decontamination units to mitigate the spread of the disease.
