Deputy Commander

Lieutenant-General Derek Macaulay enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1989 and was commissioned as an armoured officer with Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians). His education includes a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba, a Master of Defence Studies degree from Royal Military College of Canada, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.

Lieutenant-General Macaulay assumed duties as the Deputy Commander of United Nations Command at Camp Humphreys in the Republic of Korea in December 2023.

Throughout his career, Lieutenant-General Macaulay had the privilege to serve alongside allies and partners from all service branches and interagency departments.

Lieutenant-General Macaulay's assignments include command and staff appointments at the Troop and Squadron level in Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians); British Columbia Regiment in Vancouver, British Columbia; Land Force Western Area Headquarters in Edmonton, Alberta; Deputy Chief of Defence Staff Group (International) and Canadian Expeditionary Command Headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario; Command of his Regiment (Lord Strathcona's); Chief of Staff of Land Force Western Area; Commander 3rd Canadian Division Support Group; Chief of Staff Canadian Army Strategy; Commander 5th Canadian Division (The Mighty Maroon Machine); Deputy Commander Canadian Army; and most recently, Vice Director of Operations, United States Central Command.

Lieutenant-General Macaulay participated in numerous domestic operations including the British Columbia Fires (2003), Vancouver Winter Olympics (2010), Alberta Floods (2013), and New Brunswick Floods (2018). His operational tours include the United Nations Protection Force in Visoko, Bosnia (1994); North Atlantic Treaty Organization Stabilization Force in Zgon, Bosnia (2000); International Stabilization Assistance Force (2004-2005); and Operation Inherent Resolve (2015-2016) as Chief of Staff of the United States of America-led Coalition Joint Force Land Component Command-Iraq (CJFLCC-I).

Lieutenant-General Macaulay is married and is blessed with a wonderful and creative daughter.
데릭 맥컬리 중장은 1989년 캐나다군에 입대하여 로드 스트레스코나 호스 (Lord Strathcona's Horse) 기갑연대 소속으로 임관하였음. 매니토바대학교에서 학사, 캐나다 왕립 군사대학에서 국방학 석사, 미 육군대학에서 전략학 석사 학위를 취득하였음.

맥컬리 중장은 2023년 12월 대한민국 캠프 험프리스에 본부를 둔 유엔군사령부의 부사령관으로 취임하였음.

맥컬리 중장은 그간 다양한 동맹국과 파트너 국가 소속의 모든 병과 및 여러 정부 부처들과 함께 협력해왔음.

맥컬리 중장은 캐나다군 로드 스트레스코나 호스 기갑 연대, 브리티시 콜럼비아주 밴쿠버에 위치한 브리티시 콜럼비아 연대, 앨버타주 에드먼턴에 위치한 캐나다 지상군 서부지역사령부, 캐나다 국방참모부 부참모장(국제), 온타리오주 오타와에 본부를 둔 캐나다 원정군 사령부 등에서 다양한 제대의 지휘관 및 참모직을 역임하였음. 또한 본인이 임관했던 로드 스트레스코나 호스 기갑연대의 연대장, 지상군 서부지역사령부 참모장, 캐나다 제3사단 지원단장, 캐나다 육군 전략본부 참모장, 마이티 마룬 머신(Mighty Marron Machine)으로 불리는 캐나다 제5사단장, 캐나다 육군 참모차장, 가장 최근에는 미 중부사령부 작전차장을 역임했음.

맥컬리 중장은 브리티시 컬럼비아 대화재(2003), 밴쿠버 동계 올림픽(2010), 앨버타 홍수(2013), 뉴브런즈윅 홍수(2018) 등 수많은 캐나다 국내 작전에도 참여했음. 해외 작전으로는 보스니아 비소코 유엔 보호군(1994), 보스니아 즈곤 북대서양조약기구(NATO) 안정화군(2000), 국제 안정화 지원군(2004~2005)으로 파병되었고, ‘내재된 결단 작전(Operation Inherent Resolve)’에 미국 주도의 연합합동지상군사령부-이라크(CJFLCC-I)의 참모장으로 참전하였음.

맥컬리 중장은 결혼하여 부인과의 사이에 창의력이 풍부한 딸을 한 명 두고 있음.
