United Nations Command commemorated the 67th Anniversary of the Korean Armistice Agreement in the Panmunjom on July 27, 2020.
유엔군사령부는 7월 27일 정전협정 67주년을 맞이하여 판문점에서 정전협정 기념식을 거행하였다.
Guests and dignitaries from UNC, Sending States, Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission, U.S. Forces Korea, Combined Forces Command and the Republic of
Korea, gathered in the Joint Security Area to mark the anniversary of the Korean Armistice Agreement which was signed at 10 a.m. on July 27, 1953. The Armistice
ceremony recognized the 18 nations that lent their support to the maintenance and enforcement of the Korean Armistice Agreement. It was the longest negotiated armistice in world history, taking 158 plenary meetings and countless staff and liaison officer meetings spanning more than two years to complete.
유엔사, 전력제공국, 중립국감독위원회, 주한미군사령부, 한미 연합사령부 및 대한민국 귀빈들과 고위 관리들은 공동경비구역 (JSA) 에 모여 1953년 7월 27일, 10시에 서명 된정전협정을 기념하였다. 본 기념식은 정전협정의 유지와 이행을 지원한 18개 국가의 공을 기리기 위한 것이다. 정전협정은 2년이 넘는 기간 동안, 158번의 본회의와 수 없이 많은 실무자 및 연락관 회의를 통해 만들어진 세계 역사상 가장 장기간의 협상을 통해 이뤄진 협정이다.
The terms of the Armistice Agreement included the establishment of the demilitarized zone, a rule-set for military forces on both sides, provisions for third party oversight, and procedures for the repatriation of prisoners-of-war.
정전협정 합의 사항은 비무장지대 및 양 군간의 규정 설정, 제 3국의 감독관리, 그리고 전쟁포로 송환 절차를 포함하고 있다.
The 1953 Armistice Agreement, signed in the interest of stopping the Korean conflict and the bloodshed on both sides, was agreed upon by the UNC Commander-In-Chief, the Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army, and the Commander of the Chinese People’s Volunteers.
1953년 정전협정은 쌍방간의 유혈사태와 한국전쟁을 중단시키기 위해 체결되었으며, 유엔군 총 사령관 및 조선인민군 최고사령관 그리고 중국인민지원군 사령관이
서명하였다.
The commemoration provided a moment to reflect on the many losses that the Republic of Korea and Sending State nations endured throughout the war on this year, the 70th Anniversary of the start of the Korean War.
본 기념행사는 올해 한국전쟁 발발 70주년을 맞이하여, 대한민국과 전력제공국의 수많은 희생을 추모하는 시간을 마련하였다.
General Robert B. “Abe” Abrams, Commander of United Nations Command, and host of the event said, “Today we pause to reflect on the human cost of the Korean War...we take a moment, out of our busy lives to honor the multinational forces, who answered the call of duty with decisive resolve to defend the Korean people. We salute those who fought and died for inches of ground, during the arduous months of Armistice negotiations. We give solemn gratitude to those who returned home with disabling wounds, both visible and invisible.”
본 행사를 주관한 유엔군 사령관 로버트 “에이브” 에이브럼스 대장은, “하나의 깃발 아래 정전협정 합의사항을 이행하고자하는 우리의 헌신은 그 어느 때보다도
굳건합니다,” 라고 밝혔다.
The 1953 Korean Armistice Agreement is the official, universally observed document for maintaining security and stability on the Korean Peninsula until a lasting peace
agreement can be achieved. As it has for the past 67 years, UNC continues to maintain and enforce the terms of the Armistice Agreement to facilitate peace on the Korean Peninsula.
1953년 한국 정전 협정은 항구적 평화가 정착 되기까지 한반도에서 안보와 안정을 유지하기 위한 공식적이며 보편적으로 관찰된 협정이다. 지난 67년간 그래왔던 것처럼, 유엔사는 한반도의 평화를 가능하게 하기 위하여 계속해서 정전협정의 합의 사항을 지키며 집행 할 것이다.
General Abrams, said, “Our commitment to carry out the terms of this agreement, under one flag endures, and it is stronger than ever.”
에이브럼스 사령관은 “오늘 우리는 한국전쟁에서 목숨을 바친 분들의 희생을 기리기 위해 바쁜 일상에서 벗어나 잠시 멈추고, 한국 국민을 지키기 위하여 단호한 결의를
가지고 임무를 수행하던 다국적군을 추모합니다. 우리는 힘들었던 몇 달간의 휴전 협상 기간 동안에도 싸우다가 전사한 분들에게 또한 경의를 표합니다. 그리고 우리는 눈에 보이는 부상뿐만 아니라 눈의 보이지 않는 부상을 입고 고국으로 돌아간 분들에게도 엄숙히 감사를 드립니다,” 라고 덧붙였다.

together, and our commitment to one another.”
